My research

Posted November 8th, 2009

For my PhD I studied environmental pollution (heavy metals, PCBs, DDT and other organochorine compounds, and brominated flame retardants) in European hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) populations in Antwerp (University Antwerp, 2001-2007). This is a selection of my most important publications:

- De egel als bioindicator.(in: Zoogdier 20 (3), 2009)/ Hedgehogs as bioindicators of environmental pollution.

Zwerfvuil bedreigt egels (in: Zoogdier 15 (4), 2004). / Rubbish threat to hedgehogs.

Afval hindert dieren.(in: Knack 46, 2004, door Dirk Draulans). / Rubbish threatens animals.

- De West-Europese egel (In: Zoogdieren in Vlaanderen. Ecologie en verspreiding van 1987 tot 2002. Verkem, S., De Maeseneer, J., Vandenddriessche, B., Verbeylen, G. & Yskout, S., 2003, Natuurpunt Studie & JNM-Zoogdierenwerkgroep, Mechelen & Gent, België. Pp. 72-77.) / The Western European hedgehog.
